Il banchiere errante - Story The purpose of this show is, using the usual combination of songs, music, dance and literary digressions, to reflect in a provocative way upon the relationship between Jews and money. Refuting the well-known cliché of the occidental Jew as being avid and a loan shark, actually serves to unmask the hypocrisy of a false moralism which by condemning money as the vile corruptor of humanity through mediocrity and a guilty conscience, prevents man from having a healthy and creative rapport with the world of business and commerce. This reversed point of view, a "Copernican" revolution according to which it is man and not money who is "the cause of all evil", is the tragicomic paradox with which a rattle-trap band of musicians, a chanteuse, a narrator and two actors stage a new conception of what business is, a concept far from the perversions of an ever more iniquitous liberalism and, at the same time, far from the falsity of its total rejection, which would be useless and anachronistic. |
